Most games have this kind of New Game Plus. Most recently Last of Us had the same kind of NG+. Yeah and in Arkham Origins (etc.) if you would get the glue grenade at the start, the game wouldn't make much sense, empty areas or criminals in wrong part of the story. Actually, it has everything right from the start.
Pros. Nice to have access to all skill points and upgrades and such. Play how you want from the start. Cons. Kind of lose the sense of excitement of discovering new pieces of gear etc. If you're a lore nerd (I am a little), it's a bit narrative-breaking to have access to all the gear and skills rather than becoming more powerful as the story

A lot of side quests (and main quests) in video games boil down to "go here, do this, come back". I found the side missions in Origins (and other AC games) were really good at building the world and characters. In general, the side missions in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are much better crafted than earlier AC games.

Also, Origins saves are tied to an account ID. If the saves you downloaded are for your release of the game, they should have the same account ID.
